How to store your (sharp) knives

How do you store your knives?

If you keep your knives in a messy kitchen drawer, you have a good explanation for why they may not be as sharp as when you bought them.

The messy drawer is your knives' worst nightmare!

First and foremost, knives become blunt because they are exposed to a lot of impact. In addition, there is a high risk of chipping the blade or breaking the tip of the knife – not to mention the risk of cutting yourself when reaching into the drawer.

Fortunately, there are plenty of good alternatives to the knife drawer!

Alternatives that are both gentler on your knives and your fingers, and more hygienic.

Knife block

You may have already guessed it.

The knife block is (perhaps) the most popular alternative to the knife drawer, and for good reason: the knife block requires no assembly and is a beautiful addition to your kitchen counter.

We have produced our knife block in natural oak, which is not only incredibly beautiful but also antibacterial.

The knife block is therefore a very hygienic and practical way to store your knives.

Knife magnet

Another popular alternative to the cutlery drawer.

If you are as passionate about your kitchen knives as we are, then you will probably agree that a knife magnet is the most elegant way to display your knives.

The knife magnet is a gentle and elegant way to store your knives – and it's super hygienic too!

Wooden or metal knife magnet?

It may not come as a surprise to you, but a metal knife magnet is not particularly gentle on your knives!

The hard metal can scratch and dent your knives, making them blunt over time.

So even though a metal knife magnet is a cheaper alternative, we still think a wooden knife magnet is worth every penny.

It is gentler on your knives and protects them from scratches and knocks.

At the same time, wood is naturally antibacterial, which makes a wooden knife magnet more hygienic.

Organise your cutlery drawer
If you insist on keeping your knives in the kitchen drawer, you need to organise the drawer.

That's why a knife holder, knife block or the original knife cases are a must.

With these three alternatives, you can organise the knives in your drawer and avoid damaging the knives (and your fingers).

However, the knife holder and the original knife cases require a lot of space and, in most cases, fill an entire drawer.
