Stainless steel pots and pans (especially those with a 5-ply construction) are fantastic. They are durable, distribute heat perfectly, allow for precise heat control and look great in any kitchen.
But...
If you cook every day (or even just once a week), your pots and pans will probably show signs of wear and tear. Limescale deposits or so-called rainbow stains.
And although it may seem like an impossible task, it is actually possible to make your pots and pans shine again!
Read on as we go through the best tips for removing limescale and rainbow stains from your stainless steel pots and pans.
Step 1: Light cleaning
Scrub the pan with warm water and soap and remove as much as possible so that only the stubborn stains remain.
Step 2: Use vinegar
Once you have done your best to clean the pan with soap and water, you can now move on to the next step – vinegar.
Use a coarse sponge or brush to spread the vinegar in the pan.
Step 3: Scrub
Scrub until all the stains are gone. Depending on the task, this may take a few minutes and require some elbow grease.
Step 4: Clean and dry
Once the stains are gone, all you need to do is rinse the pan and dry it thoroughly with a clean tea towel.
Vinegar and baking powder
If your pan is still stained after the above cleaning steps, you still have one last method you can try: vinegar and baking soda.
Make a paste of baking soda and vinegar and scrub it into the surface.
REMEMBER to wear gloves as we are working with acid and base.
